A Tinder shadowban is when the app keeps your account active but stops showing your profile to many people — so your swipes and likes quietly go nowhere. It's usually a response to reports or behaviour that looks spammy, not a formal ban.
Signs you might be shadowbanned
- Your matches drop to almost zero after previously being steady.
- You get very few or no new likes over several days of normal use.
- Messages you send seem to go unread even to old matches.
- Your profile stops appearing when a friend searches your area.
A simple test
Ask a friend in the same city to look for your profile with settings that should include you (age, distance, gender). If they swipe through a large stack and never see you over a day or two, that's a strong sign your visibility is limited.
How to recover safely
- 1Stop any behaviour that triggered it — mass right-swiping, copy-paste openers, or anything that draws reports.
- 2Make sure your photos and bio comply with Tinder's rules; remove anything borderline.
- 3If it doesn't lift, delete the account, wait at least a few days, then create a fresh one with a new number and a strong new photo set.
Before you remake
A fresh account only helps if the profile is better. Lead with a new, high-quality opening photo — see the photos that actually get matches — so the new-profile boost isn't wasted.
